Don't Tell Mother I Cried
Don't tell mother I cried,
Said the soldier to me as he died.
In thunder wind and in rain,
The soldier lay dying in pain.
Make my memory so proud,
He said sobbing out loud.
Mother thinks I'm so brave,
Her thoughts I'm trying to save.
He closed his eyes and then died,
....I won't tell his mother he cried.
